There are several maintenance tasks you need to perform regularly on your PC to make sure it continues to run smoothly. First of all, uninstalling
any software you didn't install is an important step. Second, defragmenting your hard drive regularly helps to keep it running properly. Making sure
the computer has enough memory is very important as well!

Second, if computer jargon is not your thing, take along someone who knows their stuff! (Like a Dot Calm representative!)
Most modern browsers have a "tab" feature. Tabs can be used to view multiple pages within the same browser
window.
2 ways to use this to help you
research:
When you search on Google or another search engine, and see the search results in a list, right-click on the result you want to see, and
choose "Open in a New Tab." This will ensure you can keep your original search results while viewing as many results as you wish.
If you find text you wish to research on a web page (but it's not a link), highlight and copy the text, press Ctrl+T to
create a new tab (Command+T on the Mac), then paste the text into the Google search bar on the top left.
Press "Enter", and you'll have the results of your new search in the new tab (while keeping your original page intact).

Protecting your machine from electrical surges is just as important as using antivirus software!
3 important ways to protect your computer and your information are:
A really good surge protector. Electrical surges can happen on any wire. You need a surge protector that protects
every wire going into your computer, including the phone line and Ethernet network cables, where applicable. Lower end surge protectors only
protect the electrical outlet; to get complete protection, expect to pay a bit more - from $20 to $35. Here's a
really great article on the subject.
Although this may seem like common sense, many people don't follow this basic rule:
when you go away for any length of time, unplug all of
your electronic equipment. This will prevent unfortunate electrical strikes while you're away.
BACK UP YOUR DATA - OFTEN!!! I can't emphasize this enough!
